In the race for traffic, some media outlets are creative and think outside the box and others have brain farts.

The news website NewsRoom belongs the latter. While we were basking in the euphoria of Banky W and Adesua Etomi's love story, this website decided to take the piss.

Media Room went with the headline 'Banky W, Adesua will experience broken marriage'- Pastor Adeboye". Really, guys, there is stooping low and it is downright shameful. This headline is shameful.

This website stretched the hell out of Pastor Adeboye's controversial sermon in which he criticised social media based marriages in April of 2017.

Yes, Nigerian news sites squeezed the Banky W and Adesua Etomi story until there was nothing left. This, however, doesn't make it right for a news organisation to blur the lines of fake news to get a boost in traffic.

There is creative thinking and there is this story- dragging Pastor Adeboye into the celebrity marriage of the year. The writer actually had the creativity to write a few paragraphs on this hoax story.

This terrible story is similar to the fake Buhari story by the News Agency of Nigeria. Fake news is on the prowl too and not just in France and America.

Sensationalism in place of facts and creativity is silently eroding the credibility of many online sites in Nigeria.
