Truck full of Cannabis Sativa seized in Edo state
NDLEA operatives in Edo state has seized a truck loaded with Cannabis Sativa.
NDLEA operatives of the state command reportedly intercepted the truck at about 1 am on Sunday, November 6, Punch reports.
The contraband was on its way to an unknown location when it was intercepted, but the occupants of the truck reportedly fled into a nearby forest on sighting the operatives.
While speaking with journalists and displaying the seized substances, the State Commander of the NDLEA, Buba Wakawa, said, “We receive intelligence that a group of people are loading cannabis Sativa in a forest in Uzebba area. So, we mobilised our officers (and) they went for the operation.
“But because of the terrain, they (suspects) sighted the light from our vehicles coming and escaped. We had to tow the vehicle from Uzeba to our office.”
Wakawa noted that although no arrests were made, investigation has been launched into the case which would eventually lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“We have got some vital links that will help us to track down those behind this particular movement. No arrest was made because it was in the night; they (suspects) sighted our vehicles and took to their heels.”
