Man, 27, arraigned for bludgeoning 'Woli' to death
A man in Lakowe, Ajah, has been arraigned for bludgeoning a 'Woli' to death with a plank.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Iyobosa Onaiwu, had told the court that the offence was committed on April 8, at No.8 Okewode St., Lakowe, Ibeju Lekki in Lagos State. Onaiwu alleged that the accused hit Akin on his head with a plank which led to his death.
She said that Akin, an allegedly fake 'Woli', had accosted Alimi; and asked him why he was giving people his residential address.
The prosecutor said that a fight ensued leading Azeez to pick a plank and hit the deceased on the head which led to his death. Onaiwu noted that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The section prescribes a death sentence for offenders.
The plea of the accused was not taken by the court. The Chief Magistrate, Mr F.J. Adefioye, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs). He then adjourned the case till July 15.
