Cases of rape is becoming rampant in Nigeria as no day passes without a report making the headlines.
What would you do to a man that raped your 2-yr-old daughter?
The case of child rape is on the increase but what can be done to stem the tide? What punishment is adequate for child rapists?
But the most disturbing aspect of it is child rape where some sick men would find it in their wicked hearts to defile children as young as two-year-old or even one-year-old.
The case that readily comes to mind is that of a 46-year-old man who was caught red handed raping a two-year-old infant daughter of his neighbour. The parents of the child were so friendly with the man, a married father of five children, that they allowed the baby free access to the man's apartment, believing that as a father himself, he would stand up against any harm that would come the child's way.
But they were shocked the day the baby went to the 'uncle's' apartment when he was all alone. Moments later, the girl's mother heard her baby screaming and running to the apartment, she found the man whom she trusted trying to force his engorged manhood into the private part of the innocent child.
The lost mother was reported to have fainted on the spot. The case is still in court with many emissaries, including the Bale (traditional ruler) of the area begging the parents of the girl to withdraw the case.
Some Nigerian rape activist have been clamouring for a life sentence for rapists while a member of the House of Representatives once raised a bill recommending the death sentence for paedophiles but what should be done to child rapists?
On Morning Teaser today, we ask: what would you do to a man that raped your two-year-old daughter?
