Is there any chance that two people with AS genotype could have healthy children?
My name is Jason. I am 34 years old and I work with one of the leading telecommunications companies in Nigeria. I am in love with a lady I have made up my mind to live with for the rest of my life.
Cynthia, that is her name, is such an angel that life will be practically useless for me if I don't marry her.
But there is a snag: her genotype is AS and mine is also AS. I have heard and read that people with the same genotype could get married since there is a 50% chance that children born of such parents would not be affected.
But my parents, especially my mother would not hear of it and they have vowed that they would never give us their blessings. Even when our family doctor said we have a chance, they have stood their grounds.
My problem now is if I should go ahead and disobey them and get married to Cynthia or go with their request. Is there any hope for us?
Dear readers, on Morning Teaser today, we ask: would you advise Jason and Cynthia to go ahead and get married?
