"Dear Pulse,
'I lost my fiancee to an American returnee at Xmas'
What would you do if you sponsored a woman through school only for her to dump you for another man?
My name is and I am a very sad man at the moment because a woman I loved with the whole of my heart and gave everything for, and almost a year down the line, I have not been able to trust any other woman.
I met when she was just a secondary school leaver. I had gone home during the Christmas celebration that year after serving my boss for seven years and was now a business owner in Lagos.
Though I did not go to school, I was determined that my wife must be educated and I made sure Chinyere got admission into a university in the Eastern part of the country. I had done the wine carrying introduction and was only waiting for her to round up her studies when she showed me the true colours of a woman.
I had planned with my family to set in motion preparations for our wedding in the New Year but that was not to be because by the time I got home, I was given the shock of my life.
When I went to their house to visit with them, I noticed that the usual welcome I got was not there. I could not see my fiancee that day as I was told she had gone out with her friends.
For one full week, I did not see Chinyere until a cousin informed me that she was actually staying with a young man who had come back from America. I was able to trace her to the man's place. And true to what I heard, Chinyere was with the man and told me clearly that I should stop looking for her as she was with her fiance.
The man himself told me he was appreciative of what I did for his 'wife' and I should give him a breakdown of all I spent so that he would pay me back.
Since then, I have been in shock and I don't know what to do. It seems like my life is gone. Why would a woman have the mind to hurt someone this much?
Paulinus,
Lagos."
