Do You Agree With The FG's Call For Churches/Mosques To Pay Taxes?

Religious bodies all over the world are categorized under Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, and as such, they are not supposed to pay taxes to the government.

Their major duty is to lend a helping to their members and other needy people in the society but as is our case, most of these bodies are actually ripping off its members.

The congregation contribute monies for their leaders to live ostentatious lifestyles; they contribute to build schools that their children cannot afford to attend; their leaders buy private jets and junket all over the world while most of these members cannot even afford bicycles; the leaders and their families go for extended medical check-ups abroad while their members can hardly afford money for medical bills.

Now, the Federal Government of Nigeria, after taking into consideration all of these abuses, conclude that the religious bodies should pay taxes but there has been hues and cries from many quarters.

On Morning Teaser today, we ask: would you support the call for churches and mosques to pay taxes?
