'Officer killed my husband because I did not sleep with him' - Woman

A woman whose woman was tortured to death by officers of SARS has indicted an Inspector who was pestering her for sex.

With many narrating tales of serial abuse, torture, extortion and brutality, others have been revealing how the officers had summarily eliminated many Nigerians indiscriminately.

The latest Nigerian to expose the SARS is an aggrieved widow who alleged that her husband was framed up and tortured to death by one of the officers in Ondo State because she refused to sleep with him.

The woman, Gbemisola Ayoade who spoke to Sahara Reporters on her travails, said the said SARS operative identified as Inspector Ojelabi Oladele attached to the Ondo State Police Command, tortured and killed her 37-year-old husband, Seun Ayoade, because she constantly rejected his love advances.

Narrating her ordeal to Sahara Reporters, Gbemisola said Inspector Oladele who incidentally was her late husband's friend, had pestered her to have sex with him and when she refused to give in, he framed up her husband for a crime he did not commit, arrest him and locked him up where he was tortured to death.

Gbemisola who accused Inspector Oladele of extra-judicial killing of her husband, said that though he was close friends with her husband, Oladele kept disturbing her for sex and even threatened to harm her and the deceased if she refused to give in to him.

She said she repeatedly turned him down on the grounds that she was married and not just that, but that she was married to someone who was his friend.

Gbemisola alleged that as this did not go down well with the SARS officer, he framed up her husband, got him arrested on October 12, 2017, and had him tortured to death while in SARS detention.

Inspector Ojelabi then dumped Ayoade’s corpse at the morgue of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Akure and lied to attendants that the deceased died as a result of a gunshot wound he sustained during a duel with the police.

"I can't just imagine how a friend to my man will be asking me for sex," Gbemisola began.

Continuing, the bitter Gbemisola said:

"It is very disgusting. On many occasions, Inspector Oladele asked me to go out with him, but I  always tell him ‘no' and that I couldn't do it.

Because I turned down his offer, he then decided to punish Ayoade by calling him a criminal, hence his arrest and detention at the SARS office.

And despite all this, Inspector Oladele is still threatening to deal me just because I refused to allow him to sleep with me. They have now killed my husband in their detention centre with cooked-up lies that he was an armed robber who died during a gun duel with some police officers.”

Reacting to Gbemisola's claims, the Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Femi Joseph, said the case was already being investigated and assured that the officer would face the law if he is found culpable of the allegation.

"The Police Commissioner has ordered full-scale investigations into the ongoing case. Although it is an allegation, a panel has been set up and investigations have begun to unravel the truth of the matter.

And if the culprit [officer] is found guilty then he is going to face the prosecution and full wrath of the law," he said

It has been revealed that a human rights activist in the state, Adewumi Owolabi, has already taken up the case and petitioned the police intending to investigate his officers properly.
