Ex-Governor condemns enslavement of Nigerians in Libya

The very vocal former Governor of Anambra State has added his voice to the slavery Nigerians are subjected to in Libya.

Mr. Obi told newsmen at the Conference on Networking with the Giants organised by African Youths Entrepreneurs at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, that Nigerian leaders must deploy concerted efforts in tackling the Libyan issue.

He said that such tragedy called on Nigerians to have a re-think about the trajectory the country was headed to.

“If you listened to my speech, you will see a deliberate comparison of Nigeria with other countries of relative development trajectory in the eighties and how those countries have all overtaken us

What we are witnessing in Libya is part of the consequences of that failure. Such occurrences should be utilised by us to advise ourselves as a country that we must wake up and put this country on the right path to avoid implosion in the future,” Obi said.

Speaking further, Obi called on those saddled with the responsibility of leadership to immediately commence real governance by doing those things that other nations did that took them out of the woods, such as savings for the future and reduction of the cost of governance.

Obi called on the youths who dream of going to Europe by crossing the Mediterranean Sea via countries like Libya to resolve to take back Nigeria for Nigerians by resisting being bought with money during elections and resolve to only vote in those with a track record of performance, character and integrity.
