Pop art is an artistic expression that started in the late 1950s in the United States of America.

You might know Andy Warhol as the father of pop art. In Nigeria,  Niyi Okeowo is probably its brightest student.

The Nigerian pop art artist is a young creative who keeps a low profile. He is a triple threat: a photographer, graphic designer who also knows motion graphics too.

Niyi Okeowo's pop art style is evident when you take a look at his Instagram page. The pop element of his art is so strong you can almost touch it.

His works have strong colours which his subjects are splashed with. The motif of his pop art designs ranges from trippy to bold and grand. Niyi  Okeowo also delves into minimalism and creates designs that are both pleasing and soothing to the eye.

While his works have a sharp identity, the Nigerian pop art artist says he is still on a mission to find himself. "I’m not trying to sound cliché, but I’m still trying to figure out who I am," he told Tha Loot in 2015.

When it comes to inspiration for his pop art, Niyi Okeowo says dreams and his mood play big parts. "People, Music, Life experiences and mostly dreams. I’m usually inspired the most when I get extremely upset or extremely happy."

Niyi has a lot of pop art projects lined up that don't yet have a definite date when they will be released. They include ballerinas and drummers. Well if they are as dope as his previous works, then we do not mind waiting.
