Who Wins African Footballer Of The Year AS P-square, D’banj & Lagbaja Headline Event

The in Africa today, 9January, 2014, as top Nigerian music stars, P-Square, D’banj and Lagbaja entertain guests while the trio of NigerianSuperEagles and Chelsea of England midfield gem, John Obi Mikel battles IvoryCoast’s duo of YayaToure and DidierDrogba for the coveted Globacom sponsored African Footballer of The Year diadem.

The star studded event will see whether Mikel who is currently an African champion can upstage past winners, Toure and Drogba.

While many Nigerians feel the Jos born soccer prodigy has done enough to nick the top prize after winning the AfricanCupofNations and helping Chelsea to the ChampionsLeague and EuropaCup, others say that YayaToure is the better player though all he has achieved has been in the colours of his EnglishPremiership club, ManchesterCity.

To set the tone for the event, ChelseaFootballClub flew Mikel in their private jet to Nigeria and it is hoped that he will adorn the jet with the trophy when going back to England.
