Daily Post reports that Onyia had earlier been docked before an Enugu South Magistrates’ Court for the rape but was subsequently granted bail and the case transferred to the higher court for trial.

But Onyia, according to reports, has consistently denied having sex with the woman.

While narrating the incident, he said that on September 20, 2016, the woman who has been his friend and customer for more than three years, called him to pick her at the motor park with his cab and that he took her to his house.

“After staying with me in my house, she told me her problem and I gave her some money, dropped her at a bus stop and went my way.”

Continuing, Onyia said it was when he went to drop her that she showed him a man she claimed was her cousin and but was shocked when policemen from the Udi Police Station came to his house later in the day and invited him to the station where he was accused of raping another man's wife.

“I was the one that took them to the police station in my cab and the man was threatening me that I will not go scot free for sleeping with his wife.

I told the man that I have been friends with the woman for a long and she never told me that she was married.”
