The culprit who resides at Lake View Estate, Phase 1, along Okota-Festac Road, is being charged on a two-count charge of assault and grievous harm.

The police prosecutor in the case, Corporal Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused unlawfully assaulted Mohammed by beating and stabbing him with a knife in the stomach on April 8. 2015, at his residence.

Inedu said that Hassan and Mohammed had a quarrel few days earlier in their compound which other co-tenants tried to settle, but to no avail.

"Mohammed said that Hassan, the accused, had, however, threatened to deal with him after their neighbours tried to settle the quarrel between them.

The complainant said that a few days later, the accused accosted him outside their compound and started making trouble with him.

Mohammed said that he pushed the accused away from himself, but to his surprise, Hassan brought out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him in the stomach."

The prosecutor said that the complainant was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, while Hassan was reported to the police.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding judge, Senior Magistrate, Adeyemi Amos, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, while the case was adjourned till June 11 for mention.
