Woman with dead baby mobbed in Ogun

An apparently mad woman would have been lynched by a crowd after the body of a dead baby was found with her in a refuse dump.

A woman believed to be mentally challenged was almost lynched to death by an angry mob when she was found with the corpse of a new born baby at Ago Igbala in the Ibafo area of Ogun State on Thursday, February 26, 2015.

Eyewitnesses said the woman who is generally known as Tope, was playing with the dead baby at a refuse dump in the area, when a passerby saw her and raised the alarm.

When a crowd pulled near to see why the alarm was raised, Tope was said to have taken to her heels and was chased down by the mob which was bent on lynching her.

She was saved from certain death by men of the Ibafo police state, who were alerted and they quickly went to the area to rescue her from the angry crowd.
