Jungle justice meted out on a suspected thief

But for the timely intervention of the police, a suspected thief who has been terrorising a secluded community in Ikeja, Lagos, would have been lynched by the angry crowd which was hell bent of sending him to the great beyond.

The thief who reportedly gave his name as Austin Obi, was caught in the act while trying to steal laptops from a shop after he had successfully carried out such operations in the past but this time, his luck ran out and he was caught and was about to be beaten to death when the police came around and rescued him.

This is what an eyewitness sent to Pulse:

"There is this thief that usually comes to our neighborhood in Ikeja (Seriki Aro) to steal almost every night, and as God will have it, he was caught this morning and almost lynched and burnt before the Police came and took him away.

What he stole last night were 3 Laptops. While they were interrogating him, he said his name was Austin Obi. And asking who his people were and if he knows anybody around here, he started mentioning names of popular police men in Ikeja.

And that was how Police quickly came and took him away. Meaning he might be working with the police men. But he was just darn lucky today sha.''
