The accused who is reported to be a father to seven children was reportedly introduced to the trade by one Abdulaziz from the Niger Republic.
Daily Post reports that Collins revealed that he left his family behind in Imo state and have lived in Sokoto Metropolis for three years, adding that he used to be a motorcycle mechanic.
While parading the suspect, the state commandant, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsenma, disclosed that the command apprehended the suspect following an intelligence report on the fake money printer.
He added that Collins was so well versed in his trade that the fake currencies looked a lot like the original.
Dutsenma also said that the other suspects are thugs who specialised in stabbing innocent people at will.
According to the commandant, the thugs have stabbed no fewer than four people within the metropolis, who are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
He said, “Area Boys in Sokoto is not sponsored but a matter of interest. And I see Area Boys as a disaster coming to the state that deserves enough measure or else they will make the state unbearable.”
Dutsenma lamented over the issue of thuggery in the state, stating that, if not checked, could present great danger in the future, explaining that youths in the metropolis now joined in of their own volition.
