Two suspects killed during robbery attack on filling station

Two robbers have been killed in a shootout with the police during a robbery attack on a filling station.

The robbers reportedly attacked  Y.T.K filling station at Oke Afa bus stop around 11am on Tuesday, November 8, and made away with an undisclosed amount of money, Punch Metro reports.

The assailants facilitated their attack with two Barreta pistols, 19 rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.

Punch Metro reports that the robbers shot into the air sporadically, causing panic in the area and forcing shop owners and pedestrians to run for safety.

Police officers from the Isolo division reportedly showed up during the robbery and engaged the robbers in a shootout.

Two of the robbers were shot dead while two others made their escape on one of the motorcycles.

An eyewitness who identified himself simply as Saheed told Punch Metro correspondents that one of the customers at the filling station was shot by the robbers.

He said, “It was around 11am. The robbers invaded the filling station and shot at a man buying fuel. They snatched some money from other buyers and ran away on motorcycles.

“The man that was shot was assisted by people and rushed to a hospital.”

Punch Metro reports that a Boxer motorcycle, with number plate, FKJ718QH, which was used by the robbers, was recovered by the police.

After confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said that the police are  on the trail of the remaining two suspects.

“Upon receipt of the information, the Isolo Divisional Police Officer and his men went after the robbers, and caught up with them by LIMCA way, Isolo. The robbers, on sighting the police team, opened fire, and the operatives responded.

“Two of the robbers fell in the gun duel, while two others fled the scene. Two Barreta pistols and 19 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the robbers. The police also picked up a sum of N250,000.

“Effort is on to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The command remains resolute in ridding the state of criminal elements.”

However, Badmos made no mention of anybody being shot at the scene of the incident.
