Three housewives arrested for throwing young girl into well
The police have arrested three housewives in connection to the ill-treatment of a young girl.
The Kano State Police Command spokesman, DSP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Kano.
Majiya revealed that the young girl was thrown into an old well in Gayawa village, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.
The girl reportedly spent two days inside the well her stepmother allegedly threw her into, NAN reports.
Men of the state fire service are reported to have rescued the girl alive.
Majiya added that the suspects were arrested in the village on Sunday, September 25 after the father of the girl made complaints.
“We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us with our investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Mr has directed the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department, for proper investigation.”
According to Majiya, the commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into the case to determine the individual involvement of the suspects.
Anyone found to be involved in the case after the full investigation would be charged to court.
