Two armed robbery suspects nabbed by vigilante
A vigilante group have arrested two armed robbery suspects in Imo state and handed them over to the police.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended by members of a vigilante group over the weekend and handed over to the police.
While parading the suspects, one of the residents of the community who pleaded anonymity, told Newsmen about the terror they have lived in for months now.
“The robbers were terrorising the rest of us on a daily basis and without inhibition.
“The rampaging hoodlums threw caution to the wind and operated in broad daylight.
“Two of the robbers were arrested. One later escaped, while the other was handed over to the Ogbaku Police Station," he said
He added that prior to the arrest of the suspects who operated with locally made guns, the robbers cleaned out the homes of their victims and were usually done before the police could intervene.
“The truth is that the armed robbers were usually faster than the police. They operated and left before the police arrived.”
Appealing to the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP, Taiwo Lakanu, a 50-year-old woman, who also pled anonymity, asked that the community is properly safeguarded to save them from these heartless criminals.
The middle aged woman also asked that the CP interrogate the suspects properly, as she alleged that some powerful people might be in cahoots with them and are working endlessly for their release.
