Native doctor arrested with human skull, bone

Police officers in Abia state have arrested a 28-year-old native doctor for unlawful possession of human parts.

Man finds human skull in front of his house

Speaking with Newsmen on Tuesday, September 20, in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Leye Oyebade, said the suspect was arrested for “unlawful possession” of a human skull and bone.

Oyebade revealed that a tip-off from the public had led to the arrest of the suspect at his home in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.

He added that during the interrogations, the young man was unable to give a logical explanation as to how he got the items. The skull and bone are suspected to belong to a murdered victim.

However, the suspect denied the allegations, claiming that the items were passed on to him from his late uncle who was also a native doctor before his death.

“It was my people that reported me to the police because I use the skull and bone to perform magic.

“Anytime I touch somebody, his manhood will disappear once I have the items on me,” he said.

The suspect who claimed to be a bricklayer disclosed that the police had been able to arrest because the items 'travelled' during the raid on his house.

The suspect whose identity is yet to be disclosed described his arrest as “unlawful” while demanding for his release on the grounds that there are no laws which allow for the arrest of native doctors.

The suspect is currently in police custody as further investigations are carried out.
