The ground staff had been horrified to discover blood dripping from the corpse which had been found in the plane's cargo hold, forcing the plane to land in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Herald reports that the crew of the Western Global Airlines charter flight, which had been on its way to Germany, had originally claimed that the blood was a result of hitting a bird.

Upon closer observation by the airport staff, the body of a man had been discovered with millions of South African rand found stuffed into suitcases around the corpse.

The plane which had been destined for Durban, South Africa, had been forced to make an unscheduled stop to refuel in Harare on Sunday at 9am local time.

Zimbabwean capital authorities have now impounded the US-owned plane, which had been carrying cargo for South African Reserve Bank, based in Pretoria, as the police further investigated the matter.

A source had revealed to the newspaper, saying:

"Upon refueling, the airport attendant discovered that there was blood dripping from the plane.'When they checked to try and ascertain where the blood was coming from that is when they discovered a suspended dead body in the plane."
