Chelsea Schiffel, I5 at the time of the occurrence, complained that she was indecently touched, and has criticised United Airlines for its response – in which it was pointed out that she was wearing ‘extremely short shorts’.
Girl criticises airline over her ‘extreme shorts’
A teenager who alleges that she was groped by an elderly while on a flight has now accused the airline of saying she asked for it.
According to Chelsea, the man reached out for her breasts twice when her mum got up on a flight between LA and Sydney in July 2014.
The teenager's family tried to press charges against the air travel company but found it difficult to do so because of lack of evidence.
Daily Telegraph, Australia reports that the girl's family wrote a letter and in response the airline wrote:
"The flight attendants and passengers also stated that you and your daughter were allowed to move to other seats several times, that Chelsea repeatedly moved in and out of her seat, crawling over the other customer who was attempting to sleep, and that your daughter wore extremely short shorts.
"You have provided no evidence of any negligence on the part of United regarding this matter."
Reacting to the letter from the airline, Chelsea siad "For me it comes across, by them saying that, (it) feels like they were telling me that I was asking for it."
