Motorcyclist docked for allegedly stealing items, cash worth N93,000

The accused was charged on a two-count charge of felony and stealing.

The accused, of no fixed address , was charged  on a two-count charge of felony and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi , told the court that the accused and one other at large,  on Jan. 7 around 11:00 p.m at No. 3 Iwajomo Str. Ayeka, Okitipupa , conspired to commit the offences.

He said the accused entered the residence of one Omoniyi Temidayo and stole a 14-inch Sharp coloured TV valued at  N16,500;  a Sony DVD player valued at N4,500; Sony V8 handset(N22,000 )and N50,000 cash totaling N93,000.

Orogbemi said that the offences were contrary to and punishable under sections 516 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

The accused, however , pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.

He said that the surety must have a landed property within the court jurisdiction with Certificate of Occupancy and must present a year’s  tax clearance certificate  as part of the bail condition.

The magistrate then  adjourned the case till Jan. 31 for further hearing.
