A man have just been crushed to death by a falling elevator, moments after saving a woman by pushing her out of the elevator at a Manhattan building.

Stephen Hewett-Brown got trapped inside an elevator 30 minutes before the new year on his way to a New Year’s Eve party
The incident happened on New Year's Eve after 25-year-old Stephen Hewett-Brown got trapped inside an elevator 30 minutes before the year.
According to New York Daily News, the victim was going to a New Year’s Eve party and was reportedly stuck between the elevator and the building door.
A resident who goes by the name Manuel Coronado tried helping him out of the falling elevator but couldn’t after Brown told him to leave him.
'I can’t breathe' says the victim when Coronado tried to pull him up he said to leave him.
Meanwhile, before then the victim had already helped 43-year-old Erude Sanchez who lives in the building out of the elevator.
"I was going in, but the elevator started going down and he said 'Happy New Year and pushed me out," says Sanchez.
It took several minutes before help arrived after which Brown was taken to New York Hospital with "traumatic arrest."
The saved woman further told the news outlet that the elevator had been in a bad working condition for a longtime and that she was once trapped inside.
"He did a very valiant act to save me. We want to thank him and his family and pray that God gives them peace and comfort. It's something I’ll never forget." Says Sanchez.
