Two men arraigned for generator theft

Two young men were arraigned in Lagos for the theft of a generator set.

Court remands alleged luxury bus armed-robbery suspect

John Chukwu, 27, and Chinonso Eze, 26, were yesterday arraigned before an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged theft of a generator set and piston ring.

The defendants, who have no fixed address, are facing a two count charge of conspiracy and stealing, preferred against them by the police.

The prosecutor, Olu Ojaokomo, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offence on January 24, at about 4:27 pm in Apapa area of Lagos, stealing a set of piston rings and power generator, property of Coscharis Company Limited.

According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Sections 409 and 15 (3) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The magistrate, Mr. T. Abola-rinwa, granted the defendants N50,000 bail each, with one responsible surety each.

He adjourned the matter till August 8 for mention.
