Salesman, 34, arraigned for allegedly knocking down pedestrian
The prosecutor insisted that the accused committed the offences by driving his car recklessly and knocking down a pedestrian.
Ayodele, who resides at Alakuko, a suburb of Lagos, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of dangerous driving and manslaughter brought against him.
Prosecutor Mike Unah insisted that the accused committed the offences by driving his car recklessly and knocking down a pedestrian, Justina.
He alleged that the accused, who drove a car with registration no. BDG 250 CB, committed the offences on March 3 along Segun Akindele Street, Akinde in Alakuko.
“A team of traffic management officials rushed to the scene of the accident and took the lifeless body of the victim to the hospital,” Unah told the court.
The offences contravened Sections 19 and 20 of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Gbajumo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Gbajumo said the surety must be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until May 2 for mention.
