Man remanded in Kirikiri for alleged stealing of a bottle of beer

"It was someone who saw him drinking the beer that alerted one of the staff and he was apprehended,’’ he added.

An Ikeja Magistrates' Court, Lagos on Monday remanded a 25-year-old man, Abdullahi Idris in Kirikiri Prison for allegedly stealing a bottle of beer valued at N250.

Idris, a tiler who lives at 24, Ogunbambi St., Dopemu, was charged with stealing contrary to section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Miss A. R. Onilogbo ordered Idris to be kept behind bar after pleading guilty to the charge.She adjourned the case till Feb. 10 for sentencing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Idowu Onime, had told the court that the accused, committed the offence on Jan. 23 at 36, Adebisi Awosoga St., Dopemu.

Onime told the court that the accused stole the bottle of beer while they were off loading cartons of liquor in to a shop.He said the accused person drank the beer immediately.
