Man involved in broken bottle attack gets N50,000 bail
He is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and stealing.
Adams, whose address is unknown, was, however, admitted to a bail of N50,000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, who gave the ruling, said the accused should also produce two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused while the other surety should be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment to the government, she added.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Okoliko told the court that the accused with others still at large, committed the offences at Salvage Street, Orile-Iganmu, at about 10.30 a.m. on Jan. 22.
According to him, the accused and others assaulted a man, Izuchukwu Umeh, and stabbed him with broken bottles on his head and hand, causing him bodily harm.
During the attack, he said, Okoliko alleged that the accused stole a phone valued at N18,000 and N20,000 cash belonging to the complainant, Umeh.
“The complainant, who recognised a member of the gang, reported the case at the police station which led to the arrest of the accused.”
The offences contravened Sections 171, 285(1) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned to Feb. 17 for mention.
