Man in court for allegedly beating motorcyclist
Iribhogbe, residing at Orile Agege, near Ikeja, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.

23-year-old man, Dele Iribhogbe, who allegedly beat a motorcyclist, Wahab Akorede, to a pulp for not carrying him on his bike, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Ehemegbe, told court that the accused, who entered a not-guilty plea, committed the offences on May 15 at Ajiboye Street, Orile Agege.
She alleged that the accused and one other person now at large, assaulted one Wahab Akorede, a motorcyclist.

The prosecutor said that the assault, left Akorede with damaged lips after the accused had given him punches, following an argument.
“The complainant claimed the accused assaulted him because he refused to carry the accused on his bike."
“Efforts by pedestrians at the scene of the incident to settle the dispute were unsuccessful as the accused continued to beat Akorede."
“Akorede reported the matter to the police and the accused was immediately arrested,” the prosecutor stated.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 prescribes a three-year jail term for convicts of assault, occasioning harm.
However, the Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Kubeinje said the surety must be gainfully employed and should also provide evidence of two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until June 8 further hearing.
