A 20-year-old man, Happy Ndimele, who allegedly stole N70,000 from one Miss Gift Kali, was on Thursday docked at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.

Ndimele, whose address was not disclosed in court, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 17, 2016 at Ojo road, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

Ikem said the complainant gave the accused the money to buy her a sewing machine.

“The accused didn’t buy the sewing machine but spent the money and disappeared."

“He was caught while trying to sneak out of the area after reappearing,” he said.

Ikem noted that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded his innocence to the offence.

Chief Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye granted the accused N50,000 bail and two sureties who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until June 12 for further hearing.
