The incident had reportedly taken place at the Isolo Magistrates Court, Lagos, Nigeria, as the 35-year old man charged with fraud had collapsed in the courtroom.

The suspect identified as David Usman, who was accused of collecting N7, 000 from his victim, had reportedly fallen down as the court registrar had read the charge against him.

The reports reveal that efforts to revive him had been futile and that the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi, had immediately contacted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Aswani, who had asked his men to bring the suspect back to the station.

According to PM News, Usman had been arrested by the police after he and others who are reportedly still at large, had defrauded their victim identified as Ogechi Udemadu, aged 19.

The victim had reportedly been accosted at 7/8 Bus Stop in Ajao estate and forced to give the money on her to the fraudsters.

The fruadsters are also reported to have asked her to go home and bring her mother’s jewellery to be converted to cash.

The victim who reportedly claimed to not have known what she was doing at the time, revealed that she was later taken to a hideout in Isolo where some youths had attacked the fraudsters.

Usman had been arrested and taken to the Aswani police division, while his accomplices, had fled before they could be accosted.
