A 29-year-old unemployed man, Charles Lucas, on Friday pleaded guilty before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for the theft of electric cable worth N3 million.

Lucas, whose residential address was not given, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The magistrate, Mrs A. A. Adetunji, remanded him in Ikoyi Prisons until April 4 for a review of the facts and sentencing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Cyriacus Osuji, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 30, at about 2:00 a.m. at Dele Adeyemi Street, Agungi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Osuji said that the accused stole armoured cable valued at N3 million, belonging to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

He said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
