The body of the little girl identified as Leashay Thomas, had according to reports, been fished out of the Montego Bay in St James, Jamaica, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
The Police are reported to be searching for Leashay's father, who is reported to have called a relative on Monday night, to say he wanted to commit suicide because he had killed his daughter and dumped her body in the popular Montego Bay beach.
The discovery had been made following a distress call from the same relative of the child to the police, revealing Leashay's father's confession.
A police spokesman reportedly reveals that shortly after officers had been dispatched to the beach to investigate the report, they had returned to their base after coming up ‘empty-handed’ following an extensive search of the shoreline.
They had returned to the beach the next morning to continues their search, before they had spotted the body of a child which was immediately fished from the sea.
The police are now awaiting the postmortem results to determine the cause of the Leashay's death.
May her soul rest in peace.
