Serial offenders and prolific criminals will get the complimentary cards which will bear warning to them that they risk jail time if they misbehave.
Greater Manchester Police is warning offenders to be on their best behaviour or face the consequences of their anti-social acts or any other illegal stunt they might want to pull during Christmas and New Year celebration.
About 1,000 cards are being sent out containing the well-known Marks and Spencers slogan, but with a twist, reports the Manchester Evening News.Read: Man found alive 60 hours after being buried in landslide
Each card is worded thus: “This is not just a Christmas dinner… this is a GMP custody suite Christmas dinner.”
The Christmas cards will be sent to its targets in the coming few days. Alongside the message above, a photo of a luxury Christmas lunch is shown, and beside it is an image of a custody sergeant holding a standard custody suite meal.
Branch Commander for Criminal Justice and Custody at Greater Manchester Police, Superintendent ChrisHawkins said: “Whilst this card does poke a bit of fun at our ‘custody suites meal options’, there is a serious message behind this.
“Law-abiding citizens of Greater Manchester should be able to enjoy Christmas without fear of criminal behaviour wreaking havoc.”
The police of Manchester, home of Premier League behemoths, Manchester United, vow to stop criminals making Christmas a misery for its inhabitants.
“This card is our reminder that we will not tolerate a small handful of people ruining a special time for many, and will take action where appropriate.
“Our officers have been working hard to keep homes safe from burglars, bringing offenders to justice and ensuring the safety of everyone on the streets and in their communities.
"We’d ask all recipients of this card to be mindful of their behaviour and to make the right choice – it’s either behave or spend Christmas behind bars.
"The choice is yours,” concluded the Police Chief.
