Insensitive couple take a selfie displaying the burning hotel

A couple’s photo in front of the burning hotel in Dubai has been called ‘the most inappropriate selfie ever’. The Address Downtown Dubai hotel went up in flames just hours before Dubai celebrated New Year’s Eve.

While people struggled to escape and run to safety, one insensitive couple took the opportunity to take a selfie in front of it and posted the photo on Instagram along with the caption: ‘Happy New Year My dear Dubai. May God bless you and keep you safe, you always surprise us with the biggest fireworks.’

The picture has raised lots of comments especially on twitter ever since it was posted by Instagram user AbdulRahman Alateeqi about an hour after the fire broke out.

One commenter, Mirza Hussain, said: “Most inappropriate selfie ever.”

Another said:“Yeah let’s take a selfie where people could be burning to death.”

A fellow insensitive person also posted a comment describing it as "the selfie of the year"

Social media users called the picture to be taken down by Instagram, but Abdulrahman already took it down by himself.
