News reports have revealed that a man who had been pretending to be Group Lieutenant, has been apprehended in Delta State.

The dupe, identified as Ajedegba Benjamin Agatefe, was reportedly paraded by the 222 battalion, Sector 1, Operation Pulo Shield.

Reports also revealed that Agatefe had also claimed to be an army chaplain as well as a presiding priest of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Enwhe, Isoko South Local Government Area of the State. 

4th Brigade, Captain Jonah Unuakhalu, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, said that the suspect had claimed to be a member of an organisation identified as Missionaries Army/Navy Chaplaincy which is under the leadership of one General Rev. Ezekiel Okundayo Ajedegba, residing in Lagos State.

According to reports, Unuakhalu had added that the uniform the suspect had been wearing, had been given to him by Gen. Rev. Okundayo upon his appointment as the Delta State Director of the organisation.

When asked how he had laid hands on the army uniform, the suspect had said the uniform had been handed to him by Rev, Okundayo, saying:

“It was the first day l wore the uniform and the same day got into this problem and I’m arrested.”

The army who had conducted a search at the residence of the suspect, had found two pairs of blue uniforms and accessories, photo frames, a pair of black boot and calendars of the organisation in his home.

The suspect as well as his exhibits will be handed over to the Nigeria Police for follow up action after preliminary investigation.

Agatefe revealed that he had been wearing the uniform for the first time upon his arrest, as he had been trying to settle a case between his younger sister and her husband, adding that it had been meant to calm any trouble that might arise from his presence at the scene.
