The police on Tuesday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Babangida Iliyasu, in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a bicycle and an arm-chair. The accused of Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja, was charged with theft, an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Idi, told the court that the matter was reported at Gwarimpa Police Station on June 8, by one Coleman Daniel of same address with the accused.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Idi, told the court that the matter was reported at Gwarimpa Police Station on June 8, by one Coleman Daniel of same address with the accused. He alleged that the accused stole the complainant’s mountain bicycle, valued at N12, 000 and his arm-chair valued at N12, 500.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court. The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted him bail in the sum of N10, 000 and a surety in like sum. He ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till Aug. 7, for hearing.
