In Abuja 2 men in court for alleged threat to kidnap baby

Inah said the accused persons broken into the house of Bulus and threatened to go with her baby if she did not give them N200,000.

Two persons, Lohel Peter,27 and Emmanuel Timothy, 21, on Wednesday appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly threatening to kidnap a baby for a ransom of N200,000.

Peter and Timothy pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.

Prosecutor Umoh Inah told the court that one Zibriyan Bulus of Durumi had reported the matter to the Police Station on Nov. 21, 2015.

Inah said the accused persons broken into the house of Bulus and threatened to go with her baby if she did not give them N200,000.

He said the accused persons stolen N51,000, two wrappers, half bag of rice and 30 mudus of beans from her house.
He said the offence contravened Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N200,000 each with reliable surety in like sum.

Kagarko said that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till March, 17, for hearing.
