A jealous woman who felt threatened that her lover was seeing someone else, has been arrested for pouring acid on the rival.
A 27-year-old woman who could not take the fact that another woman was dating her boyfriend, did the unthinkable by pouring substance suspected to be acid, at Ushafa community, a suburb of Bwari area council in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
According to Daily Trust, the burnt victim, 25-year-old Blessing Markson, was in her sister’s hair saloon that fateful day when the suspect sneaked in and emptied the substance on her, leaving part of her face and breasts burnt.
The suspect who is said to hail from Cross River State, had earlier accused her boyfriend of dating the victim because of calls and text messages she sent to his phone, an action saw as a threat to their affair.
To safe guard her affair, she then decided to take the steps to put her rival out of the way and began by tracing the intruder.
According to a police report after her arrest:
"She succeeded in tracing the victim in her sister’s saloon through the same phone number she had been calling and sending the text messages to her lover’s phone.
As soon as she got to the saloon, she engaged her in a fight before pouring the hot substance on her face and breasts.
After the attack, she tried to escape but was caught by neighbours who handed her over to the officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
She had also damaged some items in the shop including glass doors, hair drier and creams in the process."
