Speaking on the loss of the pretty Onu, Santiago Roberts, the CEO of the organization said in a statement:

"The Miss Tourism Nigeria Organization brand has lost a true and a great gem, Maureen Onu, who was one of the brightest. She was always prompt to carry out instructions and tasks given and willing to learn.

She was looking forward to representing her state with pride during this years' finals and with the hopes of becoming the first ever national tourism queen from Ebonyi State.

The organization will redesign the content and production and dedicate the show to the memory of Maureen Onu.

We pray God to grant the family the strength to bear this great loss."
