Four suspected thieves who stole from a church got the beating of their lives after they were caught by a mob.

Four suspected thieves who broke into a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Okpanam Road, Asaba, Delta State, got what they bargained for after they were caught and given the beating of their lives before being handed over to the police.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects who are said to be perpetual thieves tormenting the area, had broken into the church in the night and carted away musical instruments, industrial fans, air conditioners and other items.

They had almost succeeded in going with their loot when they returned to get the tithe box and that was their Waterloo as they were nabbed after a resident saw them and raised an alarm.

It was also gathered that shortly after robbing the house of God, the thieves had also raided a building site where they stole building materials.

They were handed over to police at the Okpanam Divisional Police Headquarters.
