A middle-aged man and his wife have been arrested by the Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for burning the penis of a 17-year-old boy who allegedly raping their four-year-old daughter.

Inside Arewa reports that the couple was arrested on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the residence in Sama area of the state following a report by the father of the victim, Abdullahi Ibrahim.

Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Babangida Abdullahi, disclosed that the teenager who is a student of a senior secondary school in the state was brutalized by the couple following allegations of defiling their daughter.

"They (couple) alleged that the teenager, a Senior Secondary School three student, raped their four-year-old daughter.

So, they sponsored some boys who seized him on March 24, took him to the suspects’ house and the suspects severely tortured him and burnt his manhood.

They also locked him up in a toilet up to the following day, March 25. The victim was later taken to the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, where he is responding to treatment,” Abdullahi said.

He added that the couple was arrested for allegedly taking the law into their hands instead of reporting the matter to the appropriate authorities, insisting that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of thorough investigations.

The victim's father, a teacher at Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto, while  appealing to the state government to assist the family in seeking justice for his son, also called on the Sultanate Council of Sokoto, local and international human rights groups, among others, to come to the aid of his family as the suspects had threatened to kill him in the event that he made attempt to take any action.
