A woman has been charged to court after she drugged her fiance and running away with his money.
Victoria Alaegbu, a 46-year-old woman, has been dragged before an Igbosere Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly drugging her fiance, Prince Hillary Unachukwu, and stealing his money, a total sum of $1.5 million, about N295.5 million.
PM News reports that Alaegbu allegedly administered a noxious chemical substance on the victim in December, 2015, at his Ikoyi home, which made him unconscious from 8pm till midnight and by that time, Alaegbu had escaped with the money.
Unachukwu reported the case to the police and after a serious manhunt was launched, Alaegbu was arrested this January and charged to the court on a five-count charge of conspiracy, attempt to kill, stealing, unlawful detention and possession of fake document.
The prosecuting police officer, Sergeant Nicholas Akpene, also informed the court that Alaegbu had locked Unachukwu inside his apartment with a padlock.
When the charges were read to her, Alaegbu pleade not guilty and the Magistrate, S. K. Matepo, granted her bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in the like sum, while adjourning the case till February 10 for mention.
