Woman sets Nigerian husband, in-law on fire

A Ghanaian woman has set her Nigerian husband and his brother on fire for unconfirmed reasons.

One of the victims identified as Benjamin Oyem, has died from the injuries he sustained in the fire incident which took place on Thursday, November 17, Punch reports.

According to the reports, the 28-year-old woman, Comfort Agboloshie, removed her three daughters aged four, seven and nine respectively, from the room they were sharing with their father and uncle.

Punch reports that after Agboloshie had taken her kids to a safe place, she soaked some clothes in kerosene, set the clothes on fire and threw it into the room where the victims, Lawrence Nkem, 45, and Oyem, 42, were sleeping and locked them inside.

Fortunately, the brothers were reportedly rescued by neighbours and were rushed to the Tema General Hospital after sustaining severe degrees of burns. Nkem who survived is being treated for severe injuries at the hospital.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ms Juliana Obeng, said the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the Tema General Hospital mortuary.

The motive behind the gruesome attack is still unknown.
