2 arrested for cloning Gov Ambode's phone number to commit N50m fraud
Two men have been arrested for cloning the Lagos State Governor's number to commit humongous fraud.
It was gathered that Jamiu and Oyewole who claimed to be cocoa merchants, had sent a text message on February 10, 2016, using the cloned number to the state Accountant General, asking him to remit the money into an account they had opened.
Not satisfied wit the way the order came, the Accountant General contacted the Governor and knowing he did not send the message, Ambode ordered a covet investigation and it was soon discovered it was the handwork of Jamiu and Oyewole and two others who are now on the run.
They were arrested and charged to court where they both pleaded not guilty and were admitted to bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties in like sum, while the case was adjourned till May for the consideration of the bail application.
