Man in the dock for raping, stealing from girlfriend

A man who refused to take no after his lover called it quits is in trouble for raping her and stealing her money.

One Samson Ogundele, is serious trouble after he was arraigned before a Surulere Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly raping his girlfriend and stealing her N50,000 in the process, The Nation reports.

Ogundele, who is facing a two-count charge of stealing and rape, according to the police prosecutor,  Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo, had allegedly raped the 21-year-old woman after she told him she was quitting the relationship, and after raping her, stole her money.

“The complainant told the accused that she was no longer interested in the relationship but the accused did not agree. The accused later went to her house and started beating her and injured her eyes. The accused also raped her after the beating and stole her N50, 000, " Ekundayo told the court.

Ogundele, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him and the Chief Magistrates, M.I. Dan-Oni, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties, while adjourning the case till June 15, for mention.
