A man who did not to pay his friend money he owed ended up killing him.
According to reports in Daily Trust, after strangling Hamisu, Mijinyawa dug a shallow pit and buried his friend, then covered it with thorns and leaves.
It was gathered that the bone of contention was when Hamisu gave his friend the money to help him get locust beans for his business in June but Mijinyawa allegedly used the money for another purpose and refused to give his friend either good or refund the money.
After months of waiting, Hamisu asked his friend to either provide the seed or return his money but Mijinyawa could neither do any.
On the day Hamisu disappeared, according to his mother, Mijinyawa had told him to come to his house and collect the seed but that was the last he was seen.
After three days without seeing Hamisu, his family called on his friend to ask him if he knew his whereabout but he denied knowing anything.
His undoing was when he hired a young man to work on his farm and after the work, he refused to pay the boy and even threatened to do to him what he did to Hamisu. It was the young man who hinted the deceased family and they went to the police.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and according to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Musa Majia, Mijinyawa has confessed to the crime and had even taken the police to the spot he buried his friend where the body was exhumed.
This is not the first time friends would turn on each other over money.
In July, 2015, one Steven Onowa, was paraded by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly murdering his close friend, Daniel Bassey, over the sum of N700,000.
While in September, a middle-aged man in Benue State, Ngbede Omale, was arrested after also murdered his best friend, Agabaidu Omale, during an argument and went ahead to bury him in a shallow grave.
