Bricklayer, wife lead armed robbery gang to raid estate

The couple was said to be in charge of an armed robbery squad in Ogun State. They were caught while trying to rob an estate in Ogun State.

A deadly couple  is currently in the custody of the Ogun State Police Command after allegedly leading a gang of armed robbers to raid an estate at Abule Lemode in the Ijoko area of the state.

According to , the couple- Amache and Seun Augustine- was on Saturday, January 17 arrested alongside two other suspected members of the gang, Taiwo Dada and Ezekiel Alawode while allegedly robbing at Santos Crescent, Araromi Estate.

The suspects were first apprehended at about 9.30 pm by members of the local vigilante before they were handed to the policemen from the Agbado Police Division, Ayinla, on Sunday.

They were allegedly caught in possession of a locally-made pistol.

According to Punch report, the couple had stayed in the estate for about a year before leading the gang to rob.

According to the General Secretary of the estate’s community development association, Stephen Adesoji, the gang was saved from an angry mob who wanted to lynch them.

“Two of the suspects were a husband and wife, and they live with us in the estate. They invited two others to perpetrate the crime. It was the security man they connived with who later alerted us that robbery was going on, and we informed the vigilance group,” Stephen Adesoji told Punch.

It has also been reported that Amache,  who is said to be a bricklayer and his partner, Seun, who was a full time housewife, have confessed to their crimes in their statements to the police.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, has confirmed the arrest and revealed that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
