A 60-year-old grandfather who has been leading a robbery gang comprising of women to cause havoc, has been arrested and charged to court.
A 60-year-old man, Michael Agwu, has been charged before Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly leading a robbery gang comprising two women, Ogbomma Amaeci, 37, and Obiageri Okonkwo, 32, to assault a woman and stealing jewellery, naira and foreign currencies valued at N2, 160, 000.
The prosecutor in the case, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the trio had, on March 2, 2015, assaulted one Ebube Ezenwachime at the Ajangbadi bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, on her way back from seeing her husband off at the airport on a foreign trip, beat her up and stole the items from her.
"The accused man and two women on the said date assaulted Mrs Ebube Ezenwachime on her way back from seeing her husband off on a foreign trip by beating her up with fist blows.
They stopped the woman at Ajangbadi first bus stop in her car, beat her to the extent of causing the woman wounds on her mouth and body.
They made away with her wedding ring valued at N140,000, a golden necklace worth N120,000, cash of N700,000 and 5,000 Euros."
