Wife conspires with friend to stab husband to death
A married woman has been remanded in prison for conspiring with her friend to murder her husband.
The order was handed down on Adizat and Omozeufo by the Magistrate, Igho Braimoh, after they were arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy to commit felony and murder, to which they both pleaded not guilty.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Ogundele Oluwale, had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offence on October 23 at Upper Siluko Road, Benin.
"After conspiring with Adizat, Omozuefo unlawfully killed Owhe-Akere by using a knife to stab him on his chest which caused his death," the prosecutor said.
The offense which contravenes sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, provides that anyone guilty of conspiracy to murder is liable to imprisonment for 14 years while anyone found guilty of murder shall be sentenced to death.
While Igho directed that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, the case was adjourned till February 19, 2016.
